Battle Arena Toshinden was developed by Tamsoft and released in 1995 for the Sony Playstation.
Old Memories: The PS1 Demo Disc
I first played Battle Arena Toshinden on the PlayStation 1 demo disc—the very first demo that launched with it. I thought that game was really cool. Of course, there were only a few stages and a few characters you could pick in the demo so I was limited. I never got to play the full version back then, but I eventually did about a year ago. Recently playing the full version as an adult, I was able to enjoy it more.
battle arena toshinden Gameplay and Favorite Characters
I always used Fo Fai but I picked some of the other guys too, I really enjoyed how you could fight around the stage and even kick opponents off the platform. I always got a kick out of that; it was hilarious to me. Fo kind of seemed like a monkey was very silly with his ball move and the way he crawled around. I like how he uses his long claws reminds me of Vega from Street Fighter.
The Challenging and Disappointing Finale
It was pretty challenging, especially the final boss. That guy was not easy to beat, and I had no idea who the final boss would even be. However, it sucked because there was no ending story for anyone. I did all of that work, and there was no payoff. I don’t really like games like that—especially fighting games, where everyone should have an ending.
Final Verdict and the Series’ Future
It makes me wonder if they would ever do a remake or a remaster. The series didn’t take off the way Tekken or other fighting games did. Is this a game that I desire playing constantly? No. I would probably play it for fun here and there, but it is not a game that I highly enjoyed.
