Xtreme: 4 Reasons Sony Needs To Remaster This Classic

Originally released as Xtreme on September 9, 1995, and later rebranded as a Greatest Hits title, 1Xtreme was developed by Sony Interactive Studios America as a launch title for the original PlayStation. The game features various sports gear like bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and luges. This is competitive racing with combat mechanics, similar to Road Rash

Xtreme Game and Combat Mechanics

This is another PS1 game that I played on that original PlayStation demo disc. To me, that game was so cool because you got to ride on different sports gear, such as a bike, skateboard, rollerblades, and street luge. It makes sense why it’s called “extreme” because you can punch and kick the person next to you.

Watching them fall always makes me laugh. I’m the type of person who laughs when someone falls, especially when they bust their behind in sports! It’s even better in a video game because no one is actually getting hurt. You can even fall from being high up in the air if you don’t land properly. Seeing your character just slide across the floor is hilarious but looks painful! You’re racing against different people on all of the various equipment, and it is challenging since some go faster than others. You have to be smart, knock your opponents out, and do your best not to fall since crashing slows you down.

I like silly games like that, similar to Road Rash. It may seem a little violent, but its fun racing and attacking your opponent, pushing them right into an object.

Childhood Demo Memories

In the demo, I think there were only about two stages to play. I didn’t get to play the full game but I wanted to because I truly enjoyed it. Those demos were awesome with a good amount of titles to choose from. I did however play the full version of 2Xtreme and 3Xtreme later down the road.

Adult Me xtreme Playthrough

I recently played Xtreme as an adult, and it was still fun. I was enjoying it and trying my best to come in first place. It wasn’t that easy, but it made me laugh all over again, knocking people over just like I did when I was a kid. I don’t even know what the ending is like. I would have to look that up or try to beat it myself.

Modern Times and Remastered Thoughts

I think they should make more games like this, where people are racing on bikes and rollerblades instead of just vehicles. I don’t see a lot of people riding them these days either. A lot of people are on electric scooters and electric bikes now. They aren’t on rollerblades much or skateboards. Times are a little different. This game would be pretty cool if they remastered it since they remaster a lot of games as of late. Even games that I don’t think anybody asked for! They should definitely do one for this series. Did you guys play it? Did you enjoy it? What did you think of Xtreme for the PS1?
