F- Zero first released in the US in August 1991 as a launch title. When I 1st played F- Zero, we got it from the rental store, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. As a matter of fact, that game was very different because it was all futuristic. The idea is pretty cool because you’re far into the future and the racetracks are high above the city. If you’re not careful, you fly out and you crash. You lose!
The cool thing is, if you get hit enough, you accumulate damage and your vehicle will blow up. Not many racing games had that mechanic at the time. Unfortunately its only a one player game.
How i feel towards f- zero
Anyway, this game was fun, but in my honest opinion, it’s not a game that I would want to purchase. It was just something about it that’s like, meh. It’s not something that I strongly desired or can keep playing while being entertained. There wasn’t many racing games that I had or that I liked back then anyways. I started liking racing games more when the PlayStation came out. Racing games became better at that point.
But F- Zero was interesting because it was cartoony and the characters were interesting. Everyone had a unique-looking vehicle which were like a pod or something. It wasn’t your typical vehicles that have wheels. That’s also where the iconic Captain Falcon comes from in Smash Bros.
recently playing f- zero
Well, I played it again in recent years and its on my YouTube channel. I just had to revisit it to see how much of it I remembered. I still feel the same about it, it’s kind of fun, whether you play for the Super Nintendo or the N64. But it’s still not a game that I just gotta have, you know.
I played the N64 with my wife and daughter, and we were laughing. We did have fun because of how much we were crashing. We all sucked at it but thats what made it enjoyable for us. I personally like the characters and the way the vehicles look more than the actual gameplay.
It was pretty tricky for me. It was a little challenging, so I didn’t get very far because enough damage kills you.
final thoughts
That’s my take on it. I know this blog isn’t very long. I don’t have much to say on it, but it’s, it’s just a little bit that I wanted to share.
